Travelling Exhibition Comes to the Okanagan Science Centre
Cost: $20 for families, $8 for adults, $5 for children and seniors, children 2 and under and OSC members are free
Inspiring Nature, Inspired Techno, Biomimicry and Transport will open at the Okanagan Science Centre on January 16, 2020. This travelling exhibition explores biomimesis – the idea that innovations all around us are inspired by nature. Although the word “biomimicry” might not be in everyone’s daily vocabulary, it is visible in our daily lives – such as how the lightweight bones of a bird inspire vehicles’ structure, or how the shape of a kingfisher’s beak was adopted to reduce the noise on high-speed trains.
This travelling exhibition—the latest to arrive at the Okanagan Science Centre since Dinosaurs Unearthed in 2017—will allow visitors to get up close and personal with the principles of biomimesis through natural specimens, multi-media interactives, experiments and games.
