Take a wee drive to sample a dram of Scotland this Sunday.
The Friends of Fintry are hosting their annual Summer Fair at the Fintry Estate and would love you to join the July 15 party. They’ve lined up the Triskele Celtic Singers, the Vernon Scottish Country Dancers and the Kalamalka Highlanders pipe band to entertain throughout the day.
When you’re not clapping along, you can tour one of the grandest heritage mansions in the Valley, check out the vendors’ booths, take your little ones to the kids’ area, ask firefighters to spray from a fire hose and enjoy food and ice cream.
One highlight is dignitaries unveiling a portrait of the late Ben Lee, a city councillor and champion of local heritage who worked tirelessly to ensure Fintry was preserved.
Tours of the sumptuous Manor House, built by the Scottish laird James Dun-Waters in the early 1900s, are $5. Gates to the grounds open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dogs on-leash are welcome. Entry is by donation and free for kids and society members.
